I urge the DEC to deny the air permit for Danskammer. • Danskammer would increase greenhouse gas emissions in New York State, and would be inconsistent with and interfere with the attainment of the goals of the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) and New York’s climate policy. • Danskammer is not needed to ensure reliable electricity. There is ample existing and proposed capacity in the form of solar, wind, transmission and battery storage to meet New York’s electricity demand for the foreseeable future. • There is no available mitigation for Danskammer’s greenhouse gas emissions. The CLCPA does not allow power generators to use emissions offsets. The only appropriate action is to terminate plans for this fossil fuel plant and pursue renewable energy or battery storage instead.
